Default playing hooky

i sneaked out to the coast very early this morning. went to atlantic beach pier. about 1/2 way out i started throwing a gotcha jerk plug. after tieing on a second lure -remembering these fish have teeth-and a steel leader. wormy and my self proceeded to catch a mess of small blues big about 2 pounds. and caught 2 spanish mackeral big about 3 pounds. we kept 14 keeper fish but caught 35-40 -was not at the time keeping count. i lost a bunch between the water and the pier-about 30 feet-normally i don't pier fish. but i will be going back this summer some time. i had fun and enjoyed my self made my tight wad brother buy gas ;D. even if it did rain all day.

Bluefish are fun to catch, I think they put up a good fight. Last time my dad, his friend, and I went fishing for stripers, I encountered one.

Sometimes they bite the bait in half.

the gotcha plug is designed for spanish mackeral, blue fish-known as choppers here-and trout . i like the 1 oz size but the 1/2oz works late in winter probing for deep structure bass think a jerk bait that will go down 40+ feet.
