We have one coming in down this way, too. On 35 between Austin and SA. And we have BPS opening in the fall. All we need now is a Gander Mountain and we will have them all within a few minutes of town.

You guys just get a BPS by Reb, now a Cabela's too ??? And all we can get is a stinking Dick's and Gander mountain > Man I guess we are just the last ones on the totem Pole. Everytime I go to Dick's to look for some QUALITY stuff, all I find is crap. I have to order it all on-line. However Strap did just let me know about a Local store, that I'll be checking out, that has some ST Croix(the upper end stuff Legend series), and G Looomis, again the higher end models. Dicks does sell ST Croix, but only the Premier series, Avid series. All the G Loomis's they have, are left over form Galyan's days, and there is hardly anything left except UL stuff :P OK I'll quit crying now, but sometimes it sucks to be a Hoosier

Lizards, the BPS will not be open for a while-they are stll clearing the land, but the Cabelas Nitro mentioned is almost done-it ought to be opening real quick. I drive by it almost every day and from the outside it looks done.

I think heard Alan Clemons say something the other day about a few cities in north alabama being considered. I think Florence though would be the most natural place, or maybe athens - huntsville's got too many yuppies and jackson county is too backwards and poor! ;D

lizards, is gander mountain cool? i hear about it on t.v. a lot. we have the biggest bass pro of all here in springfield and it is unbelievable, if you guys are ever in missouri you ought to check it out, plus they just opened a new one on table rock, the back end is floating on the lake and it's boat slips where you can pull up from the lake, and they have some bass boats there for test drives. its awesome!

More for hunting than fishing. I've been to the BPS in ST Louis, and Gander Mountain is like a Walmart compared to BPS, in all category's.

i've got a cabelas about 45 minutes away and a BPS 1.5 hours I don't mind either drive but still haven't been out to BPS. Is it worth the drive with cabelas so close?

It will most likely be pretty similar, but it is still worth a look. Our Cabela's isn't open yet, and I haven't been to one, but the BPS stores I have been in are just unbelieveable. You could spend all day in there just wandering around and looking at stuff. If you can pry away from the tackle section, there are mounts of every North American game animal in the stores. And a trout stream and bass in big tanks. Just amazing. They do marketing as well as anybody in the world, as far as I am concerned.
