Re: best tube color
the color depends on the water color like everything else. my favorite color is watermelon seed. i am also new to tubes. i rig them weedless/weightless. then cast them past weed piles and reel them on top of the weeds. most of my fish on tubes have come from the fish busting the tube as it goes over the pile of weeds. my favorite are the mizmo big boy tubes.(thanks PNJ)

Re: best tube color
Mr Big, In my opinion green pumpkin is the best color for tube baits & Mizmo Big boy tubes are better than any other tube brand that I have ever used.I also like a Eagle Claw HP hook or a Mustad ultra lock Â*3/0 hook. I use 12-17 lb test and a 1/16-1/8 oz.tungstun weight that I prefer to leave sliding free instead of pegged. If I want the weight pegged I use a Gitzit glider weight that is an internal weight that locks in through the hook.I will post a link to the weight . http://www.nbswebstore.com/cgi-bin/w...ITZIT%20GLIDER I hope this helps. Re: best tube color
I rig tubes Texas-style with an internal weight of 1/16 or 1/8 oz. and usually work it in a lift-and-drop style in the shallow weedy water I'm usually fishing in. Sometimes when I'm in open water, I'll rig it with an internal jighead, hook exposed.
There are many colors that work very well. Like my other soft plastics, I'm using black or pumpkinseed much of the time. |

Re: best tube color
My favorites are black neon and smoke w/ red flake. I fish them Texas rigged just like I fish my worms and lizards. That way I can use one pole and have three options of different baits. I have also used the Shaw Grigsby hooks (can't remember the brand) with the clip and they work well.

Re: best tube color
i've caught a few already on them.wernt big tho. i was fishin it to shallow. should of got out alittle deeper and probally would have got some bigger bass. but when summer rolls around, i think i will tear them up. i've had most of the success riggin the t-rig/weightless, and rollin them over grass beds.

Re: best tube color
only bad things about those clip hooks is the tear the soft plastic up big time.

Re: best tube color
007, They do tear the baits up when you set the hook , but not if the fish doesn't have it in their mouth. kevin , they are the Eagle Claw HP hook. I think they are a great hook for the money. P N J

Re: best tube color
Clear water when bluegills are the primary forage, use a blue tube. Dark water watermelon seed. Rig as previously mentioned. Match the forage.
