Re: FISHING WITH JIGS
if you wanna make it simple: black and blue jig, resembles a crawdad, white and blue, resembles a shad, and orange and green resembles a bluegill.

Re: FISHING WITH JIGS
Dang Rebbasser, Thats a pretty good article you posted. 3/8 & 1/2oz. weights will do most of the work, for flipping and pitching. I would like to say if you use lighter line and not braided line for jigs, a wide gap hook will work better for you. If you use braid, I have personally opened up wide gaps hooks almost straight out trying to pull big fish from heavy cover. I hope this helps. P N J

Re: FISHING WITH JIGS
Y'all are gonna think im crazy but my parents took me to the crawfish farm alot when I was younger. There were of course the red and black crawfish but there were always some bright blue crawfish. The guy that ran the farm said that they were the same crawfish but one day of the year every crawfish would turn solid blue. Not all at the same time.

Re: FISHING WITH JIGS
Tie 1 on, I am wondering if you live near the Patomac river ? I have seen them blue as blue , green pumpkin, red/blackish green, slate gray, motor oil with a goldish bottom tint, But yet have I to see one with Orange on them like everything seems to have that is a craw pattern from lure companies. There are over 300 different types of crayfish, so maybe there is one out there that I haven't seen. P N J

Re: FISHING WITH JIGS
Crawfish change colors throughout the year and are colored differently depending where you live. Crawfish tend to be red during spring. Crawfish living around grass will be green and those living around wood will be brown. Some crawfish even have a little orange or chartreuse on them which explains why black and chartreuse is a productive color. When fishing a new body of water it's a good idea to leave a crawfish trap out overnight to determine the color of the crawfish in the area.

Re: FISHING WITH JIGS
Supposedly, I guess depending on the type of crayfish, when they are molting they can turn a bluish tint as well. which if you think of that, when they molt they are probably at there softest state shell wise, which means yummy less crunchy meal for Mr. Bass.
