Re: Do you know
If I remember correctly it was either Aaron martens(I have the video) or Gary Yamamoto. It was called down shotting in Japan but actually originated here in the US on the East Coast as a salt water technique which utilized a dropper loop above a sinker for bottom fishing for flatties. I also think the rods were supposed to be 7ft casting rods but so many guys including myself prefer a spinning rod.

Re: Do you know
Good Answers! According to Rich Tauber, drop shotting was originally used for Bass fishing but in Japan. It was introduced into the us by Japanese competers (a while back) It is considered different from the salt water technique due to the difference in presentation. Dropshotting has more motion and play in the presentations.
The "perfect" Drop shot rod is a 6' 10" spinning rod, Made in Japan and sells for $500.00. G Loomis makes one that sells here for $350.00 We can not get the Japanese version, that is unless you fly over there and buy it like Rich. Just thought this was interesting. |

Re: Do you know
The good ol' boys up here have been using a form of drop shot rig we call a perch rig longer than I have been alive ( 40 years now ). We normally use a weight at the bottom with three aberdeen gold hooks size 1 spaced a foot apart with a fat head minnow hooked through the eyes . Cast it out and drag it back through the school of perch , you will feel a thump ,keep dragging it until you feel three thumps then reel it in, the result is three perch on one cast, or one hungry landlock or smallmouth with three hooks in him. ;D P N J PS What was the name of the Japanese rod ?

Re: Do you know
I remember Gary Klein winning a B.A.S.S. tournament about 15 years ago on a drop shot rig. It's been around alot longer than people realize.

Re: Do you know
According to rich, just the jap ametures, he gave no specific name. The rod, I don't know about the jap version, the american one is by g-loomis. It is new to mebut a productive finesse tactic.
