look at the rivet on the blade t should be rusty. if it is not buy one that is most buzz baits are all ready rusty and squeak out of the package. i hate to even state this but even a moron can be right at times. a indvidual once posted that driving down the road with the buzz bait hanging out side of the car window does a effective break in on a buzz bait. which all of them need.

Yeah zooker, I've seen guys with buzzbaits tied to their antenna on the way to tournaments to get them broke in. Looks kinda goofy but I'm sure it works. BF02, the squeakier, the better.

I use a ziplock bag with salt water in it submerge your buzz blade for a day ot two and then it should squeak like crazy. We never use all of the salt from the packets for salt potatoes, so I save it for the buzzbaits.Submerge just the buzzblade,I hope this helps. P N J

Take the bait and press down on the top wire until the blade just ticks the bottom wire. Totally different sound. (click, click, click, click....)

The tie the bait to the antenna trick will work too. (squeek, squeek, sqeek....)

1. pinch the small end of the aluminum collar down to mash a little against the wire.....making it not turn....then mark it across the bearing surface with a knife several times in various directions....scoring the surface....
2. Score the surface of the blade that comes in contact with the collar surface as well...

Will squeak well and only takes a minute or so to do...

Place the buzzbait in front of a fan. Hold it until you start to hear it squeak.

They usually work just fine off the shelf for me. The older they get the squeakier they get. Sometimes I think the squeaking is bad? Sometimes it helps? I throw one, and if it doesn't work, I'll look for one perhaps a little noisier. Generally I don't have any problems catching them without the squeaks. I prefer the noise it makes against the water, not the lure itself. Just my opnion of course. But until I can't catch them using them right out of the box, then I'll worry about it.
