Topwater Snake
Besides the Doug Hannon Snake. Is there a truly floating snake imitation, that you can just slowly reel straight in to make it look like a snake is going across the water?

Check out the Manns Hardnose snakes.... they come in a few colors and are WAY more affordable.... I have not personally fished with them, but do plan on trying a few of them...

Also, if you can find any, I have a couple wooden floating bullet shaped floats that look like bullet sinkers, only they float. Pegged to the nose of any worm, it will help it stay at the surface.

I've made snakes, shorter than what you stated, by using a Culprit worm texas rigged but instead of the bullet sinker I simply used an elongated plastic bead on the line in front of the worm. By holding the rod tip up, I could swim it slowly across the top. The bead was a clear red plastic and about 3/4 inch long. I also welded some bodies of additional plastic worms to make longer "snakes". Although not a swimming snake action they still drew some magnificent strikes...... Good place to swim them was over submerged brush and treetops. I credit their effectiveness to the action of the Culprit tails. It did not seem to matter that the red head wasn't matching the black body.

Hannon snake
Just a heads up on the Hannon baits, a friend of mine bought them and put them in his worm box. When to use them and they melted the box amd other baits as well. You can't mix them with anything else. bigbasser

Yep, they should have come with instructions on how to store, handle, etc. -- at least mine did anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm leaning toward the Mann's Hardnose after looking at a couple of videos.

Great idea, very tough to cast, and will melt everything in the box lol. But did work well for me.

Actually, I ended up ordering a few snakes from Bog Baits. They came in today and look awesome. Really pumped up about using them.
