What Would You Do???
I need some help fishing a reservoir in the very near future! Heres the res. desription: loaded with riprap, bunch of laydowns that bluegills are in.. water temp around 59 to 62 degrees! Clear on the surface but once you get like anywhere from 1 to 4 feet under the water you hit weeds galore!!! The bass are jumping on the top of the water for the bluegills (big bass (i saw some today totally out of the water that looked to be around 6 - 8 lbs), and my friend was there with his grandfather this morning and he showed me what they caught(a 5lber while bluegill fishing, and he caught 4 more three to four pounders all from shore) Water is somewhat clear, but we got some light rain tonight so that might darken it somewhat... here are some pics of the place... Thanks
Ryan Here they are...

Well definitely something with a bluegill pattern. If you can/want to, catch some bluegill and use them for bait, blue gill are good big bass bait.

well guys i went today and got two bass, one was around 9 inches, and the other weighed in at 3.5lbs... it was a nice female that was a little over 20 inches! Caught the big one on a huge plastic lizard weightless up against some weeds. It was like a huge topwater bite, as soon as the lizard hit he water, the bass exploded on it! BTW the lizard wasnt mine, i found it laying on the bank by the riprap, ut i will be buying more of these!

Bas Assasin, or one of the super shallow cranks like the footloose made by bandit or the mann's baby minus 1 in a bluegill pattern. Also a VERY good spinner bait is the spinner made by wareagle called the Screamin eagle. Its a 1/2 oz bait with the profile of a 1/4 oz spinner in blue glimmer. A killer bait trust me.

i fish something like that up here i mainly use spinnerbaits and cranks along the cover and do all right with bass
i would also suggest a top water bait either a popper or spook type bait over the weed flats i hope that helps tou Ryan

Bluegill colored spinnerbait would IMO be the "go-to" bait for that. I would work it in every place you described.

"I" would use the baits that are best for you. Chrome, shad, crawfish, bream colors, etc...
You have more confidence with "your" favorites. Most people will use the colors that were previously described above but "your" confidence colors may produce as well as any color.

Topwater and small blade fished above the grass 1st thing. Then a light LIGHT bullet weight on a 6-8 inch straight tailed worm in green. Last, a senko, weightless. 4 things to try, and at least one will get you a fish.

I agree with skeeter; flukes, flukes, flukes. I fish a similar private pond and catch a fish every other cast on flukes every time. They are weedless and pretty hard to screw up when fishing em'. Get some flukes and some 3/0 wide gap mustad ultra points. You'll tear em up!!
