high waters

The water level at the river I usually fish has raised several inches due to the rain over the past few weeks, it has warmed up to around 80 the past few days after a cold front but i'm not having much luck, is there any techniques anyone can offer or should i wat untill the water drops back down a little?

you should register, its free. if the water levels up, the bass move shallower. a few days after a cold front is always the worst time to fish. in these times, you need to downsize, and fish real close to structure, make multiple casts to one spot, and slow your presentation down.

Fish the current breaks-the fish will sit in the slack water and use it as an ambush point. Throw upstream and let your bait wash into the slack water.

If the water level has really risen, and then followed by a cold front, target secondary points or main points 8)

Also fish up in new cover the water has reached, the fish will be looking for food in these areas. Things drown in these areas like worms will start comming out of the ground and the fish know this. It makes for easy meals.
So I would fish in the areas that have cover and have gone up a foot.

Juan,

You just described New England as of late! After weeks of low pressure weather (cold, rain) it is now in the lower 80's! Water level is still high and the cool water is warming up fast, and the weeds are coming in!

Don't be afraid to try the new shallows formed by the high water (areas that normally would be dry.) I've recently caught a few fish like that.

If the lilypads and stuff are up yet, try those with some soft plastics, and if they aren't, you could try a little deeper if you don't have success in the shallows.

out in shelby where i fish the water never really get high, but it will get low.

thanks for the advice, i was out last night for about 45 minutes before it got dark and i caught 3 perch and 2 large rock bass, i'd guess about 2 -2.5lbs each, thanks again
