Default storing rubber bait.

just went out and bought some new stuff. Now i'm wondering if it is okay to keep the soft bubber baits like chunks, lizards and worms in my tackle box compartments (plano style w/ snap closed lids). Or do i have to keep them in the bags?

i take all of them out and store them in the boxxes...it would be alittle hard to keep them in the bag and put them in there....they will stay fresh....unless you use gulp. but just take them out and put them in the box....works like a charm.

You are good puttng them in the box, unless they are Cyberflexxx baits. Keep those seperate.

salt is not an issue...i will takesome regular table salt and sprinkle it over all the worms. unless they are cyberflexxx like nitro said....they will be fine.

Keep them all in the bag they came with, moisture and heat will make them eventually stick to your compartments.
I used to seperate and keep them in planos but they stay fresher all year round in the bag they came in.. :-/

bennersj, I use worm binders-something like this-

But since you are just getting started here is a cheaper alternative. Get one of those soft sided coolers. You can keep your soft plastics in the bag they came in and can fit quite a few in one.

i keep all my plastics in their original package to maintain freshness. i have a binder thats full already, plus some sidepockets ona tackle bag. until i get some cash and stop buying more lures, im keeping them in a small duffel bag. it looks sloppy, but i know where they're all at.

i use the clear plano boxes with latches and the self dividers so u can adjust the lenth and size of the small compartments for storing the different sizes of baits, etc. etc.

I probably had good luck storing them in plano box storage units bassfisher02, I probably am thinking I mixed colors and bleed some worms, but I get the texture was intact after rethinking it..
I just went back to worm bags because I have plenty of room on the top of the tackle box and needed the room for 3 boxes of jerkbaits, crankbaits, and jigs 8)

I keep all my soft baits in there package. But as bf02 may no, i just got 40 bags of soft bait, and i think im goin to need a new tackle box. All i use is a small soft BPS tackle box. Thats it! It can fit in a back pack with rod. I ride my bike to the pond so have the backpack is great! I think im goin to get a new, hard, tackle box and put all my crankbaits, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, spoons, and jigs in it. Then I will but all of my soft baits in the small BPS box.

How would you guys suggest keeping gulp bait fresh? Should I just leave it in the orginal bag.

after you're done using a Gulp! product, you are not supposed to put it back in the pack. when im done with most of my plastics i usually toss them. they're cheap. always keep gulp in its pack, or it'll shrivle up. its a SOB the first few times you use it, because you forget that it'll shrivle up on your hook, and then you have to throw it in the livewell and let it regenerate it enough to peel it off the hook.

Leave them on the shelf, and buy some plastics
