Default crank baits and worms

I have always wanted to know when do fish bite dark worms and crank baits and when do they bite light colored ones? Thanks

It deals more with water clearity and what color is best seen by the bass and in what conditions the sky/weather/sun effect the sight.
Many times a black worm can cover about all conditions, but most will tell you some version of grape is what is your best bet. I along with the rest prob carry all color combos, cus what it usually comes down to is that certain bodies of water that have bass, seem to get better results with one color over another 8)

I always carry red shad or tequila sunrise and some form of pumpkin for my worms.
for crankbaits, always have shad, chartues and some kinda craw color. I carry more colors but those usaully cover all bases, but its a good idea to have lots of colors to choose from.

I've got several rules of thumb I use:

In clear water I use more natural colors and in stained water I add a brighter color like chartreuse.

In muddy water it depends on the sunlight. If it is sunny I use gright colors, but if it is cloudy I use darker colors.

At night I go with dark colors.
