Default Waded a local stream yesterday...

Fished from 5:20 AM until 8 pm, ended up catching 31 bass. All but 7 were smallmouth, the others spots. Had enough for a good limit of 2 1/2 pounders, but I always release them at this particular location so that it will remain a healthy fishery. Caught most of them on kinami flashes and edge senko imitations that walmart sells. A few came on a large pearl grub. The bass were really holding tight to structure early on, but as it got warmer they seemed to become more active. I ended up wading more than 7 miles.

Congrats on the fish! Sounds like a long day. I know I'm always kind of worn out after wading; fighting the current and keeping your footing can take it out of you. Was that 7 miles one way or 3.5 down and back?

You youngins can handle that, but man 530am to 8pm wading would have given me a heart attack . Great day for yourself though.

Creekgeek, I told my mom when I got back that I wish I had a bucket of novacane to soak my feet in. Since I was wearing waders, the pressure of the water against the boot feet made my toes feel like they were broken they hurt so bad. I waded up from a bridge about 3.5 miles almost all the way up to the next access point. Of course that doesn't help when my truck is sitting 4 miles to the south, so I had to turn back.

I am jealous! What a great day of fishing! I won some of Kinami flashes as part of a pack a couple of months back. I may just have to give them a try. I just tossed them aside. Now if I can just have one day like yours, I will be happy.

Isn't it great when your thumbs bleed from lipping all of those fish?

For me it's tough to not go up to that next bend or the next ripple. After you've done that for a while you start to lose track of time and then you're 3.5 miles away from the car!
Hopefully I'll be able to get some wading in here soon and I'll drag Lizards along with me...literally!

CREEK,

Drag him by the feet if possible. It's time for his yearly bath, whether he likes it or not.

I know exactly what you mean. The other day I kept going because after the first mile or so I was fishing in stretches of the creek I had never even seen before. Twice I had to get out of the creek and hike through the jungle so I could get past water that was too deep for me to wade. For me the main thing is getting to fish stretches that are as undisturbed by other fishermen as possible.

WTL,

You quoted Winston Churchill in your post. Are you aware that Sir Winston Churchill's Macaw is still alive at 104 years old and still cussing the Germans and the Nazi's?

Jackl, I just looked that up and apparently the Churchill family has denied ever owning the parret. Its still funny as hell though.
