Attractant on Zoom Lizards
Will putting an attractant or WD-40 on a Zoom Lizard work that well or not? If so what are some good techinques on where to fish these at. I am fishing from SHORE. I am also using a Syneregy TI 20 Spincasting Reel, with a 6 1/2 ft MH action rod???

Re: Attractant on Zoom Lizards
If they are already salted like most other zoom lures, I don't think it's necessary to add others. I know they are called attractants, but really I think it's more of the taste thing that comes into play when they bump it. They will hold on longer, for sure, but not sure if it really attracts as they imply. Just my take on it....good fishing, Mac

Re: Attractant on Zoom Lizards
Putting a scent on a soft plastic may not attract them as such, but it will mask any scents the fish may not like-I never throw a soft plastic without adding a scent-most of the time I use one of the Kick'n Bass scents, but am experimenting with a few others.

Re: Attractant on Zoom Lizards
i normally put juice on all plastic baits i find that in tough times bass will hold on to or get a better grip on a bait that has a tad of juice on it. over other plastic baits that it may just bite then spit out. not that i use the count method i just set the hook.

Re: Attractant on Zoom Lizards
I agree ;D If they hold onto it for 1/1000th of a second longer, that's an advantage in my book

Re: Attractant on Zoom Lizards
I have a buddy who uses garlic flavored cooking spray on everything he throws. He swears by it. Anybody ever tried it?

Yep and it works fine. I have a can sitting in my boat as we speak. I prefer YUM, but the cooking spray is a cheap alternative. Lizards |

Re: Attractant on Zoom Lizards
There is an easy rule of thumb here.
If you want to put something on your bait. Put it on. If you don't. Don't. |

Re: Attractant on Zoom Lizards
RRW,
On Zoom lizards, I only fish one color, that is watermelon/chartreuse, which I dip 1 inch of the tip of the tail in Spike-it chartreuse GARLIC SCENTED dip-N-dye. In a sense, I use scent, but not all that much. I have tried this lizard both with and without the Spike-It, and have found that I have better luck with the dipped tails than without. I do not know if it is the color or the garlic scent, and have not been curious enough about it to try the unscented. "It ain't broke, so it don't need fixed" JackL |
