Re: trolling motor/battery
HAYESN,
That is all going to depend on what battery and what trolling motor you install. Take the AMP/HRS of the battery and divide that by the rated AMP/Draw of the trolling motor you intend to install. This should give you a rough estimate. On a small boat, you should not have trouble running the battery down if you use a DEEP CYCLE battery. JackL |

Re: trolling motor/battery
do you think a 30lb thrust motor would be able to push me around in rivers with not to bad of a current. the boat is a 10 ft jon boat that i put some plywood on for platforms and such

It should work fine. Just use it and bring a spare battery. The current is gonna be your downfall most of the time. I would try to drift with the current as much as possible to conserve on the battery. If the current gets real strong, obviously your in the wrong boat, go get your bassboat. Lizards |

Re: trolling motor/battery
i would use my bass boat if it were possible. there's like a 10 mile section of the river that dosnt have a normal boat launch. so i have to use a boat that i can carry in. this boat is just for me anyways and i only weigh lik 150 so. my dad is buying a 16ft jon boat later this month to put an outboard on for me and his to use so. i hope this will work for just me

Re: trolling motor/battery
I would put it in the back. Best way to balance things.

Re: trolling motor/battery
HAYNESN,
I guess it would depend a lot on the size of the boat and where you sit while running the TM. If it is a small boat with the trollimg motor in the back, and you have to sit in the back to run it then you do not want the battery in the rear. If you run the TM on the front, then you do not want the battery in the front. I would say that if you are running a hand control TM, then you would want the battery in the middle, or on the opposite end of the boat from the TM. JackL |

Re: trolling motor/battery
I'd agree with that, put it in the back. or better yet run two of them
