What size tournaments??? Small club or big money??? You want to fish small waters or larger bodies like the Potomac river??? I do know of a MD club that is all about learning and fun (can't remember the name but could find out easily) and they have some very good tournament fishermen as members.

Potomac Bassmaster runs tournaments out of Pohick Bay on the Potomac river during the spring, summer and fall. Lake Anna does a Friday night tournament from late May to Sept. I also know of one in Aquia Creek on the Potomac and they do winter tournaments. National Bass holds tournaments on the Upper Cheseapeake, Potomac, and Anna but they run $160 per team.
Plenty of tournaments. Hit the Timonium and Richmond shows this Jan and you'll find all the tournaments you want.
I still think you should find a small club to start with. You'll learn more, do better, and have more fun. Then after learning more about the bodies of water you can then enter some bigger tournaments and see how you do.

join a club.. it will give you a starting point. fishing in competion with others is fine. it will certainly show you the areas you need to work on. also back seating with other members would help you learn some varyied and thought prevoking ideas and tricks..
