Default Lesson Learned: Get off the water before dark (Unless you're night fishing)

I went out to rodman yesterday. Ran into a few fish, nothing big enough to really brag about, maybe for you northern guys, but then again this is Rodman........3 fish, all 18-22"

I intended to stay until sundown. However the weeds have really filled in from the previous time I had been out there late at night. I ended up farther from the boat ramp and by the time the sun had gone down, I was still a good ways away from the O.S. canal entrance and managed to find myself lost in the maze of weed beds. I knew WHERE the ramp was the hole time, I just couldn't find a path unless I wanted to cut through the weeds. Considering the nusciance gators are all released in rodman, I chose not to cut through the weeds as nusciance gators tend to be more "social". After paddling around for awhile I finally made it back to shore, but every single water hyacinth looked just like a gator head staring me down.

rotflmao. Even the gator hardened veterans will get a little antsy when it's dark LOL. Yeah the water is super clear, hydrilla all over, nothing much in the shallows, if you can even get to them. The channel is where I would be fishing now, or the deeper holes. I'm hoping some of the weeds will die off soon.

that's pretty much spot on right now. during the day I could only get them down deep in the channel, around sundown and after sundown they were VERY active in the shallows.....they just didn't like my presentations but could sure see/hear them feeding on hte top.

I'm just required to have fishing poles and tackle readily available, lol, at least that's what the captain of my vessel claims
