Default THE DROP....Live or die by it....

Basically that's what the dropshot has been for me...it's been a love hate setup....if you need to just get some fish it can be the best thing to use...but tourney fishing with it can be good or bad....lots of shorts...biggest one I ever got on a dropshot was about 8lbs....it was my second biggest bass.....I've caught some really great fish on them but usually they are no bigger than 18 inches....most are shorts...anyone else have similar experiances?

well,if you fish tiny worms, that will happen. i cacth lots of keepers with a 6'' style worm, and i fish it alot slower than normal,it seems to produce bigger bass on a consistent basis. i dont usaully catch shorts and if i do i either change color or depth, that usaully does the trick for me.

Ok guys the thing with dropshot is the same with any technique you use....it boils down to confidence! I have a tremendous confidence in the dropshot. I have personally caught fish over the 5lb range and know people who have caught them in the 6-10lb range. If you think they are only a small fish bait....think again. I personally think that there is really only 1 company that makes a great dropshot bait. Roboworms. Out here it is all that i use. My colors vary(but only a little) depending on what lake Im fishing. 90% i stick with te same size too....6 inch. If it gets cut up a little I will rip the torn piece off and keep going.

As for as colors....remember its a West Coast thing so dont take me to heart bout colors.

Magarita Mutilator

Maragrita Mutilator 3

Priszm shad

Aarons Magic(with or without Red flake)

Oxblood(with red flake)

and devastaing on the smallies would be....

Morning Dawn(with or without Chartruse)

The more you use it the better your confidence will be with it!!!!! Keep at it it will come with time!!!!

cold fronts, winter, when the water is being really pressured by anglers, spring, bed fishing is something that is overlooked by most anglers,i think jolly caught that big fish in his avatar on a dropshot.

I will throw it anytime... any season... shallow... deep...structure....bare bank.....where ever you think there might be fish!

I have a different setup for the dropshot. Revrat taught me this one. I use my Lamiglas dropshot rod with a Spinning reel. On the spinning reel I have 80% of it filled with 20lb braid(6lb diameter) and anywhere from 15-20ft of floro as a leader. This line combo IMO/IME is the most sensative. I cant feel everyting under the water. Its alo IMO/IME also the strongest.

Perhaps it's 'WHERE" you are fishing it more than "HOW"
