I got two hits on a jig today and didn't hook up with them. I also had one bass right next to shore deadsticking a junebug senko, until he broke the line. My friend caught 5 and I got 0. We used the same lure, technique, hook, line weight, scent, and fished the same area. :P

This happens to me and my buddy everytime we go out. I always catch something and he usually never catches anything. Actually, I can never remember a time that we went fishing and he caught anything. We can never figure out what it is. I have even told him where to cast before and he never get even a hit, then I cast over right after he has casted there 5 times and I catch a bass on my first cast. Maybe he brings them in, but it has happened so many times.

Been there done that. Fishing in one of our club tourneys, my partner and I fished Lake Sonoma and I fished from the back of the boat. My partner could not buy a bite. I just fished a little different and a little slower. Partner 0, me 5. At least we weighed a limit. It was a team tourney.

on those breakoffs, check your line for freys all the time, retie after you get one in, it only takes a second and will give you lots more confidence

Actually I think zook is probably right. My friend was letting it deadstick for up to 4 minutes, I just couldn't stand leaving it there that long. Bassguy, Same thing happened to me in a tournament. I caught 5 fish and the guy up front only got one hit all day. But it wasn't a team tourney. |
