When to use certain lines

i know for different conditions you need heavier line but is there situations were you need different types of line? or should you always use flouro? and what situations should you use what types of line?

You don´t have to use a certain line if you don´t want to, the "best" line is the one that behaves the way YOU want it to, the one you feel most comfortable with.

Of all my reels only one reel has adifferent type of line other than nylon ( 15 lb test Power Pro ) and that´s only beacuse it´s a shallow spool model where the line capacity is extremely limited if you spool in line heavier than 4 pound test; from all the rest, half of them are spooled with 10 lb Big Game, the other half with 12 lb CXX, and one reel with 20 lb Big Game ( for flipping and light swimbaiting ).

I believe crank baits, spinner baits, and topwaters are great on monofilament because of it's stretching properties and because most of these types of lures are reaction baits, in which case the fish wouldn't be paying attention to the line. Braid's really good when you use lures in heavy vegetation situations, and also when fishing lures like jigs or worms when the water clarity is low. Flouro, I suppose would be better suited for lures that you would want to keep at a certain depth or lures that you might want to sink a little faster like jerkbaits, and they're also suited for very clear water when "invisible" line is key.

Line choices are really a personal decision. Most of the time though, especially if you're new to fishing, then you can get away with using monofilament line, which is less expensive (in general) than flourocarbon, braid, or any other specialty lines. Then after familiarizing yourself with how one line performs with your chosen lures, you could try another type of line and compare the performance of the different lines.
