Thumbs up Good Day Fishin' on Alan Henry!!

DadofJolly and I were at the lake by dawn this morning. The water temp was 47 degrees. He started off throwing a red rattle trap on a ledge sitting in about 12' with 25' on the drop off side. I was throwing a clown pattern rattlin' rogue. In an hour he had 7 fish in the boat... I was left scrambling to find and tie on a red rattle trap. His 3rd fish was the biggest crappy we have ever seen. We didn't measure it but it had to be 18" and it weighed 2.4 lbs by our scale (I will post pics when I get them). He also caught another crappy that was huge (about 1.5 lbs) but didn't compare to the other. The fish he caught were suspending off the tops of trees sitting on the top of the ledge. Sadly, I managed only to catch a few weeds and sticks on the ledge. We stayed on that ledge for an hour or so more casting rattle traps with no luck after 9:30.

From there we headed to the creeks where we were thoroughly skunked throwing everything from jigs, shakey head worms, drop shots, rattle traps (red of course), jerk baits (suspending rattlin' rogues), and carolina rigged assorted plastics. We threw every color jig we had in ever freakin' tree that was out of the wind. On our way from one creek to another we stopped of at a main lake cove we lovingly call Hook Head (take a guess why) where I caught a small bass on a jerk bait in about 8' of water. On another trip to a creek we stopped of at a deep bluff with a secondary point coming off of it. We got several bites (I caught another small bass on a c-rigged 4" green tiki stick dragging it across the point - bout 15' of water) but the wind was howling 30+ and it was hard to feel bites. From there we headed to the sanctuary of the creeks. We didn't get another bite after noon and we fished hard till 3 fishing all of the above. Other then the wind (gusts up to 50 mph and sustained winds at 35) we had a good day on the water for February .

Turns out if we had weighed him in officially, he would have been a lake record... oh well.
