Default New Guides

My 5 month old rod has chipped guides. The rod was about $30. Pflueger Purist 6'6" MH.

Which guides would you recommend I buy?

Thanks

I'd go with Fujis. I'm guessing it is one of the top guides that is chipped, so you may not need to replace all of them, just the one(s) that are chipped. They are not hard to replace.

Our kmart sells the ceremic insert for a few bucks, I'd go with that, other than the insert a fuji guide is pretty good deal.

Yeah I forgot to mention that only the top two guides are chipped.

How do I know which size I should buy?

Easiest thing to do is take the chipped guides off the rod and take them with you to compare.

Take an exact-o knife or something along those lines and cut the wrapping and peel it off. Then pull the guide off. You may have to work it a litle to get it loose. After you get the new guides I usually super glue them back in place and then get somt thread the same color as the other wrap and wind it around the foot of the guide. An easy way to get the wrap tight is to pass the thread between 2 phone books. Set the spool on one side, pull the thread across one phone book and set the other on top of it. Then start wrapping it on the rod by turning the rod, keeping the thread tight. Once you have it wrapped put several coats of clear fingernail polish on it and you are good to go.
