Just got home for spring break... A couple of the ponds that I fish still have ice on em not sure about any of the larger water though. If the weather continues like this, I bet they'll be biting in a few days...

Went fishing today at Spring Lake in macomb, IL. Water was 47degrees air temp 72. I love this little lake but never seem to have good luck with largemouth and today was no different. Threw jerkbait, and spinners with no luck. If you have never heard of it apparently this little lake is a doosy for bass fishing is western Illinois. Here is a link about it.

Caught me a HAWG today son!!! went out to kickapoo, fished at emerald pond after about 10 mins i see a bit of splashin by a laydown in a lil cove, go over there and after a couple mins of pitchin my jig with a baby paca craw on it, WHAM! i got one, pull her in and make a mad dash to the car so mom can take a picture of me with her, nice 3-3/4 pound largemouth, probly my PB great way to start out the season fo sho. fished a couple other lakes, had a hit on high lake but i lost my second nature eye crossin hooksets over the winter, so i lost him, a lil guy maybe 13-14 inches. noticed they were all holdin in laydowns with branches that werent too bushy. i have pic of her but they are on film, dont got a Digi cam, gotta get one. also saw a ton of turtles today.

went out to kennekuk cove today and caught 7 on horseshoe pond, Catch and release only, those fish have seen everything, i have finnaly found the secret to catching those fish hehe. anyway they ranged from 9-14 inches, and they all were thick, fattys lol. caught most on paca craws t-rigged and the two bigger ones were on super flukes. wind was really strong today, i was the only one fishing that lake, and i was tearin them up lol all the fish caust within a hour and 15 mins.

BTW mom got a digi cam a couple nights ago, but my little brother had it casue he went to wrestlemania or some dumb stuff like that. so now i can have pics of my fish

Up here in NW Indiana the fishin has been good for 3 weeks now, except for the past few days with temps suddenly plunging into the teens and low 20's overnight. I've caught about a dozen bass so far in three outtings, all from a white chatterbait with a chartruese split tail trailer. I've just been casting from shore into deeper water and working it back slowly with short twiches of the rod tip to make a little more action. Also have taken some bass around brush and laydowns, but only if they were near deeper water.

went fishin last night, the only time ive been out for about a week and will be the only time i can go for about another week, caught one on a 1/4 oz rat-l-trap silver and blue back, she was 14 inches, just bringin it back tickin the cabbage leaves, saw a V on the water and i figured it was a scared baitfish as it usually is, but next thing i know my line is moving sharply left, also finally got a digi cam, so here is a pic, gotta snap some pics to get the picture of that hawg at the begening o the season

Went out the Spring lake in macomb, il the last couple of days and Have had some of the most interesting fishing , In 2 days I caught 4 fish, Most would be dissapointed with that except that 1 was 4.9lbs on the first day, and on the second day 2 fish, 1, 4.8lbs other 5.0 all 3 of the big ones were full of eggs, here is a pick of the 4.9.
