I agree with Hank Parker. He comes across as a genuine good guy. I also like Billy and Bobby Murray who host People Who Fish on the Outdoor Channel. They show what they are using, how they are using it, and where they are using it. One of the most informative shows out there IMO.

I used to watch Fishin with Orlando Wilson, his show to me was the best as far as sharing details about specifics of the type of fishing he was doing. He was a nice guy too, but overall, I'm with you guys. I like Bill Dance and Hank Parker. Their shows are a cluttered with sponser promo's, but I do like them.
Did any of you guys ever see Fish Fishburn's short lived fishing show? He was a real bozo on the water....but very entertaining to watch.... ![]() |

i liked fish's show too, a year afterward from his debute, they moved him into a dif format, then I'd see him for a few years here and there..I always thought orlando wilson had a great show, and it surprised me when my bass club guys met him and said he was a bigger prick than roland off the camera..I've always wondered what happened to orlando and why he's not on tv...

I have always enjoyed Denny Brauer and liked his show when it was on. Hank seems like a genuine guy and seems to have an honest show.

a co worker of mine met hank while golfing and got a picture with him, he said he's really super nice..
I googled about orlando wilson a few minutes ago and several people have stated that he gave up a 30 year run on tournaments and tv shows, and was actually a multi milliaire before he retired...now adays he doesnt fish to much, how ever I saw last year he sponsered a youth fishing day on his own private lake. |

I have met a few of these guys, and although this is just one guys opinion....
roland is a prick Orlando seemed ok, a bit standoffish, but ok Hank Parker is absolutly awesome, as are kvd and his brother randy. Jimmy Houston is absolutly hillarious. Shaw is kinda quite but seemed nice, and Denny Bauer will tell you anything you wanna know and actually explain stuff to you. All in all I would say for the most part most of these guys are regualr joes just like us, only a very few are buttheads.

how could a guy not like hank parker? i could listen to his southern draw all day long and i don't think that make them any nicer than him. another one i like a lot is joe thomas. seems really down to earth and seems like he would be a great guy just to visit with.

I also like Hank Parker He also isn't afraid to tell people how good God has been to him. I think it is important to give Him the glory he deserves.

I would say my favorite is probably Shaw Grigsby. I love Strike King products and Sufix lines, so his plugging of them doesn't bother me like Roland's sales pitch.
BTW, watch any fishing show and count how many times the host says "deal". Such as: "that's always a bad deal", or "when I use this deal", or "this is the deal when the fish are shallow".

I like any pro I beat while fishing rotfl. Actually I'm one of the few who Likes Dance, and also many of the others. Whether you like Dance or not, he was at one time, one if not the best Bassing anglers on the planet, and he is a funny guy.

I like hank parker mainly cause he isnt always on a huge bass lake fishing some techneque. Yea, sometimes those shows are good, but sometimes you need something more relaxed, suc has him fishing with the family or at his own lakes and such.

Here are the guys I've met and my impression of them.....
Jimmy Houston - Flat out hysterical...he came out to one of our kids derbies and spent a few hours helping out. Probably the best person to get to help out at a derby. Roland Martin - I've met him a couple times and has been friendly to me every time (contrary to what I've read here) but then again I do know the man who taught him to fish when he was a kid in Maryland. Shaw Grigsby - Very nice person with a great sense of humor. I've met his son too who I believe is even funnier. Fish Fishburne - Is exactly like he is on tv, very unpredictable, and can fill hours on stage with his antics. Woo Daves - He'll answer any question you have but doesn't carry a conversation well. KVD - Is he an outdoor TV personality??? Met him briefly after he fished all day with a co-angler who I was sharing a hotel room with. When I asked him how my roommate did that day he responded "Who?". Not really too outgoing but I'll give him the fact that it was the end of a long day. |

Joe Thomas. He shows alot of things that can be usefull. He shows sceens from recent tournaments and explains why or why not things worked out.
He is the host for "Angler on tour". Mike Iaconnely is actually a nice guy (especially to kids). May not have a TV show, but he's not a bad guy. During conversations he is straight forward. I just wish he'd quit "spinning on his head" !

One of the cool guys on the Bass tour is Dean Rojas. If you watched any of the Ultimate Fishing he was a great sport and he went out of his way to answer a couple of questions I asked him.
Joe Thomas seems like a standup guy also.

Before I got to the bottom of reading this thread I had Joe Thomas in mind. His Angler on Tour show has really helped my learning curve in tournament bass fishing. His prefishing shows and tournament results are great. He shows how to dial in on a pattern. Develop a backup plan considering weather and water temp fluctuations or tidal influences. His tournament days go both ways. He doesn't just show the best of the best. If it doesn't go well or he doesn't make a cut he'll tell you why and what he would've done differently. I need to get Outdoor Channel back on my cable package to get that show back.

I really like good o'le Hank Parker. He's a good old boy who seems more
like the neighbor guy next door and not a celebrity. Just seems like a genuinely good guy. I also really enjoy watching Bill Dance Outdoors. Bill takes his time to show you exactly the whats, and whys and hows about the fishing experience of the day. You actually can learn something from watching his show. Plus the fella is always good for a laugh, usually at his own expense. |
