I remember the first time I threw that bobber in the water,These days its harder with the kids ,between video games & the computer.If I had 2 things as a kid it would have been a fishing pole and my Daisy Red Ryder .
So yea ,Its cool to get a kid hooked on fishing. Heres a picture of me and my daughter. Our first "double header"

Last year my wife asked my son what was so great about fishing, He told her hooking a fish was great.... But the best part was just talking with Dad! You guys can break out the kleenex if you need to!

Carried my son and a few of his friends out today, they were field testing a new crank for me, and ripping the fish apart with it. My boy caught his first 3 pounder

At the risk of being a little to Hallmark Card like... there is nothing like fishing with your kids, family or close friends. I enjoy plucking my daughters hook out of my calf and unsnagging my son for the 10th time in an hour just as much as I enjoy landing a good fish. All of you who take your kids fishing.. Your doing it right! They will always remember and they'll be better people for it!

I haven't got a youngster in my home any longer, but I've always enjoyed teaching young ones to fish. In fact, I feel it's an obligation to do so.
So, I've "adopted" a neighbor's daughter, a truly nice young girl, who's turned out to be a good learner and a fun companion in the outdoors. We even enjoy camping together.
She's a little angel, and lots of fun.

I just took about 8 kids to a small pond today. Most of them have never even been fishing before. We caught around 30 sunnies. It was a blast.

Took our 9 year old with us this weekend. Taking older daughter when she has a day off before she leaves for college. She has very fond memories of fishing with her dad.
