Lake Travis 5/1
Hit the water at about 7am this morning trying to get a topwater bite. Was able to pick up 3 on a bone spook jr. and then tried a horny toad and had 4-5 nice blow ups but didn't land any of them (must be doing something wrong). After I hit the corner I switched to a watermelon senko and picked up 3 more throughout the stickups before Anderson Mill marina. I never left the cove infront of the boat ramp. Ended up getting run off the water by the rain. All in all it was a productive day, in the few hours that I was able to fish.
Saw a couple pretty cool things on the Balcones Canyonlands side of Cypress. There was a Heron with a nest on the top of one of the trees with a baby heron begging for food. I sat and watch the adult feed the baby about 3-4 large perch. Ahhh, the wonders of nature. The other thing was about half of the Cypress Creek cove was full of white bass just tearing the minnows and shad up. It was like a mini war zone. |
