Default Hocking Hills Camping Pics

We really took advantage of the critters around the cabin, we had a hummingbird feeder right beside the hottub, plus they would land all over the forrest surrounding the cabin/hillside.

we had several redheaded one and green backed ones, and many others

Sherrill spotted 3 deer right behind the cabin, got this one, but like the birds , the sound of the shutter on her 35 mm camera spooked them
This rock was about 7 feet from the cabins backporch, and I went around it one day getting firewood and got covered in tics! Jumped back in the hottub after picking them off...the wife stayed away from me the rest of the day and no 'bumpin fuzzies" took place after she saw the tic rofl

The first day we kicked back and fished an drank and hottubbed, but the next several days we hiked and looked at the gorges and trails, met some nice hikers, no shrooms tho..
We hiked old mans cave at sunup and got some neat pics, the whole place was empty of tourists

Sherrill bout went over the cliff taking some shots, she was backing up with the camera and was about 3 feet from the edge of a 75 foot drop, I stopped her before she would have tripped over some tree roots, she got some great pics

We hiked another 2 miles to cedar falls, the water was flowing pretty good

I'll get more pics when we get some film developed...

Man, mushroom hunting. Brings back memories when my dad used to take us back in the 50's. Now I couldn't tell a good one from a toadstool. Great pics.

thanks,
we just got another 36 pics developed and most were taken hiking at sun up, we are trying to figure out the lighting issues on this camera, most are kinda dark, or they make me look fat rofl...I'll get more pics posted soon..
We had many of woodpeckers but they came out too far away. I am going to address the lighting issues after I scan them and work on them in photoshop.

yea, the story goes that back 230 years ago a trapper was hunting the scioto river that runs through columbus and then south, and he went about 30 miles east and found this 250 long, 75 foot high ledge overhang with gorges, and made that his home for the rest of his hermit days...we walked through many areas of the stone that the water had cut through millions of years ago. What amazes me is that no stone ever drops off or chunks never fall, its like one giant chunk of rock that overhangs ya.

I love that place, parents took me when I was a kid and I finally got to go back a couple years ago. Definately one of the prettiest spots on this planet that nobody has heard of. Can't wait to go back.
