Default Millers Ferry Lake, May 11

Took a trip down to the black belt yesterday to Millers Ferry, which is one of the best underpublisized lakes in the great state of Alabama.

This day, they had decided to lower the water 1-2 feet, thus making the shallow lake difficult to navigate and making most of the cover I would be targeting high and dry. I still managed several bass however, and lost a few larger ones, all throwing a white bagley spinnerbait with white willow/colorado blades. Water temp at one point heated up to 90 degrees per the depth finder, but that transducer is black so that might have been a slight exageration. It was still hot. Water was clearer for this lake.

I took the boat out of the water to go to nearby Camden around lunch, and when I had returned it looked like they had lowered the water another 6 inches, so I decided to make the trip to an oxbow I've been meaning to hit for 5 years. Managed a couple small bass on the white fluke at this lake, which I thought was pretty good considering it was silted in and only 3 feet deep at its deepest.

Another bass caught at Millers Ferry on the spinnerbait. The ones with size got away, but this fish thought it was a keeper. Lucky for it I did not concur.

The starter has broken the mount on the outboard. After much thought at the office (or on the jon), I decided to wrap a band clamp around the entire motor to hold the starter in place. Its worked for 2 trips now. Brother Zooker recomended trying JB weld to reattach the ears which hold the starter in place, and that is setting as we speak - but I will keep the band clamp for additional strength.

I can't believe I got the boat launched into this place. The ramp was about the size of the pickup bed and I had almost no room to manuver the truck. PS, yes thats my new truck.
