Nice looking site, Sandra-love those sandies. Hit it right and you can call it catching rather than fishing

Actually they are white bass-I've seen them called sandies, sand bass, wipers-guess it just depends on where you are located. I never heard them called sandies until a few years back fishing with a buddy up north of Ft. Worth. Here (south Texas) most people just call them whites. Why sandies? Heck if I know.

I think they are called sand bass, "sandies" because they seem to relate heavily to sand bars in rivers and sandy areas. Not positive about that. But what i've seen on fishing shows and what little I've heard I think that is why.

yeah they can not spawn but still have a false spawning run. as all of these fish are born and raised in a hatchery they are fed-are you ready for this- chicken liver pellets. and the #1 bait to use is chicken liver #2 is live crappie. if these things get into a lake say by to your crappie.
they just put a new regulation on one of the local lakes. if you catch a hybrid -wiper, sandies, what ever- you keep it regaurdless of size or quanity. you WILL recieve a ticket for releasing a hybrid back into the lake. the reason for this is the crappie population have taken a nose dive in this lake. zooker

Oh! I was thinking that sand bass was a slang term for white bass, I know hybrids= wipers and is a cross between fresh water striper and white bass. So I would think Magnum sandie would be a slang term for the hybrid species. Am I incorrect in thinking that?

A Magnum Sandie is just a big WhiteBass! SandBass and WhiteBass are one in the same. We just call them White Bass or White Lakers in Bama..
