Anyone play bass?
I'm working on a song... i've tabbed the intro and first verse out so far... if you play take a look:
Standard tuning: G---------------------- D---------------------- A---------------------- E---------------------- x = mute string ~ = bend note / = slide up INTRO ----------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- x2 ----------------------------------------------------- --0--0------0--0------00--00------0--0------0--0/-- ----------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- x3 ---------9-11-0-11-9---------------------9-0-11-0-5~ -0-9-11--------------11-9~~~0-9-0-11-0----------- VERSE I ----------------------------------------------0-3-5-0 -00-3-5-0---------------------------00-3-5-0-------- x2 ----------4-3--3-4-00-0-----------01---------------- -------------------------4-3-3-4-0------------------- .xx........x................x..x.................. ...........x..........x pay no mind to the [.]'s, i had to put them there for spacing purposes. thats all i have so far, its a work in progress. And yes timing is difficult to represent over the internet, so count each [-] as one second.

Ha, I looked at the title of this post and thought you were talking about playing the fish.

Being a lifelong trumpeter/cornetist, I thought it would be a snap to play a bass. However, when I tried, my lips got all slimey. Made my mustache smell kinda interesting though.
FlyRod "More SCOPE(TM), please!" PS: The bass, on the other hand, followed the boat for hours afterward. |

It's really hard to get an idea about how a song sounds just from the tablature. Is it 4/4 time, 3/4, 6/8, etc? Maybe give us some idea of where the measures are, too.
For instance, is the intro one measure and repeat, or 4 and repeat... you get the idea. Also, if you count the hyphens as one second each, then just what you've written here would be maybe 8 minutes long. Not trying to bust your chops here, but I need more of a reference to give you an opinion. |

Thats true, dont take me as a bass master... bass guitar atleast, if we are talking the fish well then that deffinitely applies 8), i just started playing about 6 months ago... this is the second tablature i've written, first that i've put up for anyone to see. i havent gotten to measures and what not quite yet, i'm still teaching myself off videos and internet, but i have managed to teach myself a few songs and i usually go jam with friends and we'll make up a catchy tune. Writing it out is obviously still a bit difficult, i'll get back to you on all those details as soon as i figure them out myself aha.

That's cool, keep at it. Like I commented earlier, I wasn't trying to say "Stupid kid, can't even write tab." I read my post afterward, and thought it might have been a little to critical. It's hard to be constructively critical in text without coming over harshly.
Good luck with the song. |
