My sos automatic suspenders are 3yrs old. Inflated by accident 1 1/2 years ago when I caught the ripcord. I replaced the co2 and the re-arming kit,but have done no other maintanance. I is now starting to fray along the velcro edges at the bottom. Just put some duct tape on it and seems fine. Should there be more maintainance or should I consider a new pfd. 95% of my fishing is by myself and my pfd is a serious part of my equipment.

if its velcro i wouldnt worry abnout it, it can come undone anyway if its velcro, but try to get somebody to sew it where its fraying, or replace the velcro

Get a new one. I've read somewhere when it starts to fray and shows wear its a good time to start considering to buy a new one. Whats a few bucks [in relativity] to a harsh ticket, or even your life? Its not something to try and johnny-rig up, or try to play it out until it falls completely apart.
