Yesterday I went fishing at my public lake. I was as close to the flats as I can possibly be. I got a couple of bites, but no luck. I noticed a small Jon boat near where I was fishing and they were bringing in a huge bass! I waved them over to ask them what they were using and how big was the bass. They were using some topwaters, and the bass was 22in! They then went on there merry way and came back about 2 hrs later with even more big bass! They say that they used to be like me and fish from the shore, but eversince they got a boat, they've been catching them liek crazy! Now I KNOW THEY ARE OUT THERE, I just need to get to them, rather then them coming to me.

Haha, until you get stuck out in the middle of the lake, and you have to paddle all the way back in...
I find life a lot easier when you take the time to save up some money and buy yourself the best. Thats what I do.

I thought the same thing, FR. If they did keep them then there are that many less fish to catch.

There is nothing wrong with keeping some bass. It actually helps to keep the lake balanced; just do it in moderation. I used to keep a few when I was a kid, but if they were over 3 pounds I always threw them back so they could reproduce.

I've got a 9'6" Bass Hunter with a 40 pound thrust trolling motor on it. Altogether I've got about $800 invested in it and it's great for fishing ponds and small lakes. Also, you can get in places the big boats can't get to!
You can probably find a used one for much less than I paid, then you can get to the fish. |

I found a guy that sold me a Nice 14' Jon Boat for 150$... Just look around. Or if you see someone and there is a Jon boat in thir backyard or leaned up against a shed or garage stop and ask em how much they would take for it. That's what I did and I have a sweet Jon boat I am adding a casting deck into. In the end it'll cost me about 550.00$ total but I bet I could resell it for 1500.00

Here's an idea. Untill your able to get yourself a boat, how about buying a pair of wadders? Before I bought my jonboat, I utilized a pair of wadders often, and the payoff was huge. I was able to not only get into deeper water, but also to get around to places I wouldn't have without the wadders.

There is nothing wrong with keeping some bass for the table or such, but don't keep the lunkers. they are the parents of the next genertion of lunkers, I always C&R bass, well that is, if I can manage the C part... anyways, like he said too, only keep smaller ones.
