Default Boat Wreck

This is not a true story so don't get worried about the title

My friend at school who likes to fish got this from a website he belongs to.

You are out fishing when your boat wrecks and you're stranded on what's left of it. If you're going to survive, you are going to have to dump some weight from the piece of boat you are drifting on. You decide you'll have to dump you're tackle box and rod/reel combos. But then you decide you'll keep one rod, one reel, one bait, and one spool of line. Day's later you wash up on an island. You have no clue where you are. You discover the days you spent drifting had rotted the line on your reel. In the middle of the island is a large pond which you notice has bass, sunfish, catfish, and a larger predator which you assume is a pike or musky.

The questions are:
1. What rod did you keep?
2. What reel did you keep?
3. What line did you keep? (fluoro, mono, braid, other & lb test)
4. What bait did you keep? (color too)

I'll post my answers in a little bit! have fun.

BB

Ok, Here's my answers.

1. BPS Pro Qualifier
2. Daiwa Viento
3. 20# braid
4. Rapala DT10 in firetiger (using the info given, this lure would catch not only bass, but the larger predator and maybe even a kitty.)

1. St.Croix Avid MH 7'; heavy enough for all those fish
2. Pflueger Supreme; nice and smooth
3. 80# braid; haul all the fish out 'o that pond
4. Mepps Aglia #4 with white deerhair; I caught all those species on that lure

Dang dude, 80lb line! that's alittle overkill don't ya think? IMO 40 is enough to catch any freshwater species. If you use 80lb line you'll just be like pulling the fish across the water. that's no fun.

although, if you're stranded on an island, I'm sure fun isn't your number one worry.

It doesn't matter what you have kept, because the line has went bad during the days you spent drifting.

PNJ, only the line on your reel has went bad. Not the spool you kept. It's not supposed to be a trick question. I guess it's just an elaborate way to ask "if you could keep one rod/reel combo, one bait and one spool of line, which would it be"

PNJ, I'm surprised you wouldn't have kept a jig!

Ding-Ding-Ding! If I need to survive, I really don't give a chit how hard a fish fights....

A jig is a great bottom presentation lure, or reaction strike bait, but it cannot fish the upper water colum very effectively as a senko is able to do.P N J

LL, that is true, but I still would go with 40lb test because that is enough to land any of the fish mentioned in that pond.

PNJ, That is a good point. Like I said though, I'd keep a crankbait cause it can cover some water. And I suck at fishing Senko's.

If you wreck in Fl, you won't be drifting for days. By nighttime, the gators will find you.
