Gas going to $4 a gallon by summer. That hurts. I just found out about road tolls. If I am right some states are selling certain roads to private concerns. Seems in Cali. there are some that charge over a dollar a mile. Here in Pa. I just found out that they want to toll Interstate 80. It crosses the state from Ohio to New York. If I am correct Rendell is leasing? it to someone who lined his campaign funds. I hate to get into politics but that is something that concerns me. Also I read in a car magazine by the year 2012 all cars and trucks must get 35 miles per gallon. What next?

It will hurt my fishing the most since the truck has a big motor and the boat goes through gas pretty quickly too.
Currently my diesel car gets almost 45 MPG. ![]() |

Ford (which I am not a fan of) is making a 1/2 ton pick up with a diesel motor. Here in the Bluegrass where I live diesel cost more than unleaded but my truck gets 18 mpg's and I have a cousin with a duramax in a ton truck and he will average 21 mpg's. Now a good little six cyl. diesel in a half ton pickup (dodge's dies. engine is a six) I am guessing should be able to get around 28 to 35 mpg. I am a chevy man myself so I am hoping they start building a diesel for a half ton. I think I should get about 3 more good years out of my truck '04 crew cab siverado and then it will be time to trade her in but only if they come out with a dies. like I am thinking they will.

Bob...we have a thing going on here in Texas that they are trying to keep quiet, but the word leaked out somehow. They have sold the right to develop the Trans-Texas Corridor to a company from Spain (Cintra) who has coupled with a Texas company (HB Zachary). Rumor is that the same company will also take over a lot of the other toll roads that are being developed. The contract also has provisions that prohibit the state from maintaining the nearby roads in a condition that will cause them to compete with the toll roads. It is a mess.

Any road that would allow you to navigate Houston or Dallas easier would be something Im into, although, Isnt there already a road that connects Mexico and the rest of the US known as US59? Have you ever been down this highway on a weekend and seen all the illegals and their stolen cars in tow? Wheres the highway patrol when you need them, especially when our neighbors to the south can bring whatever kind of 18 wheeler they want on to this states hwy system? But I get a ticket when my state is out by a few days.

The small IH powerstroke or (power-joke, power-choke, etc) is allready used in the sterling trucks and boy-oh-boy is it a piece of crap just like the big brother 6.0 and 6.4. Cummins 5.9 and 6.7l I6 engines only average 11 and some change MPG. If you want a diesel thats fuel efficent get a VW or a saab. Chevy with a 5.3l V8 and a 3.73 diff here get 18 MPG hwy, loads of power(with mods.)

Yes I agree, I have an 04 Chevy Crew cab with that 5.3 abd 3.73 gears and it does fine pulling my 3000 lb rig. I am just hoping Chevy will put a diesel in the half ton truck. Maybe a tricked down Duramax that wouldn't pull the frame of the truck in two would be great IMO. I have a pretty good feeling that they would sale like Hot Cakes, especially if they could get the MPG's up around 30 and keep descent power. But I won't be getting one anytime soon. I hope to drive my truck till the motor falls out or wheels fall off. Wich ever comes first. Especially since its paid for. |

Well i sold the F-50 last Aug. I baught a Nissan Pathfinder. I love the power of 4 wheel drive & the gas economy. Now a smaller boat is next. That's the reality for me like it or not. What would you buy boat wise. I need at least 35hp to get up & down the MO. Yes i want a new boat.

Hey, I wouldn't worry about that Pathfinder pulling a bigger boat. I had a Nissan Frontier and pulled a 18.5' Pro Craft with no problems at all. Just leave yourself a little more room than usual to stop. It will handle it. |

What year Pathfinder did you buy? I have an 06 Xterra and get like 16mpg. The 4.56 rear gear is great for muddin or pullin the boat but sucks the big one on the hwy.
