Default More Ice

We went out today for a while before it wamred up too much like it's predicted to. It's also predicted to rain, which will be horrible for the already thin ice. Anyways, after a couple dink LM and a couple bluegill in the 4-5" range, My little foam bobber just plummeted like it was tied to a brick. I loosened up my the little ice fishing spool and let the fish run. Any tension I put on the fish would surely break the thin 4lb test. On any other body of water, I wouldn't have known what it was, but on my pond, there was only one thing it could be... A catfish. Yeah, a catfish on a little bitty ice fishing jig and a spike.

After about 15 inutes of fighting we finally saw his head, which means he saw us. OF course he immediately flipped his head, almost breaking the line, and ran off, again. I had to let him run or the line would break. 4 times he got to the ice and got another wind. Finally I got the frint of his head out the of the wwater and my dad grabbed his gills. Not expected to hook one, or land one if I did, I didn't have the camera. So It was my turn to run... to the house and grab the camera. Here's a couple picks, Would have got more, but my hands were freezing cold and I wanted to get him back in the water.

Sure was fun though. Had to cut the line with no foreceps or pliers we couldn't get the little jig out of his mouth. Oh well, it was worth it!

FP22, JB is correct, 4-5"

It really surprised us that it went after something so small. I mean you can see the jig in its mouth. But in our pond there isn't anything that puts up that kind of fight. This spring we are going to buy some minnows and put em in there to feed the bass/perch and most likely the catfish will be happy too.

JB, where you at in ohio?

I forgot to mention that the cat was the same size as the rod.
