Default Ok...question bout temps here

Been out of commission on the fishing part for a couple of years...but Lord willin' I'm pickin up where I left off. I do bout' 90% of my fishin from the banks...mostly at the ponds on Tuckertown.
My question is about the mild winters we have had the past couple of years & if it throws everything out of kilter around here. Usually around April I start doing good with bass & crappie up till about july...then it gets tricky cept' under the bridges & such.
I know the ponds are much quicker to warm up...but I'm wondering if it stays the way it's been if I could even start sooner Or if it messes up the cycles for spawn & such.
Thanks!

Welcome, Preacher!

Tons of good ideas, tips, concepts, and tricks on here for the beginning basser or the seasoned-veteran. PM Zooker (I see you live near him), I'm sure he'll help you out.

Preacher, welcome to the forum. Two words of advice: 1. Watch out for us crazy fisher-type peoples, and 2. beware of the Monkey....

Anyways, welcome. You'll learn a lot here, I know I have. Like LL said, Zook will be able to help you out a lot. As for me (and LL) we have a little thing called "Ice" up here. This means no fishing unless it's through a whole in the ice, so I probably won't be much help for your situation.

yep thats the "bluff" side average depth down through there is about 15 feet. watch that first step in most places the first step is 10 feet deep.. there is several flat spots down thru there.. that are 3-7 feet deep..

i intend to fish the lake this next weekend i have been away from it too long..and need to hit it...

Well....if the weather channel (on=line) is right...supposed to be back in the 50's by Sat....with a chance of rain. But then ya never know around here....
But to get back to part of my original question...has this goofy weather, like last year, does it mess with the prespawn & all? I follow the trees here as an indicator when things are normal....Dogwoods & Redbuds...but the last two years they were blooming WAY early cause of the warm weather.

when the water warmed up to the normal spawning temp around here last year(about 58-60 degrees) the fish didn't move up because it was early in the year. we didnt catch them shallow until the normal time that they spawn.

Thats sorta what I mean...thats why I watch the trees around the lakes & such...in my years of fishing for bass, & crappie, for here when the dogwoods start blooming the water temp is getting to where the crappie move up for the spawn....& not too far behind are the bass (when redbuds bloom). But with the ground ( & water) temps being warmer the past couple of years..it made me wonder. Like year before last...dogwoods were blooming at the first part of March instead of April...which meand the ground was warmer...which would translate to warmer water temps in most areas. In this area anyways.
I've fished the piedmont...Highpoint, Asheboro, Yadkin chain, since 1991 now. So I've learned a little...but not enough. I don't give two hoots about the "global warming junk"...everything goes in cycles. Guess I just need to get me a thermometer heh???!!
