catfish

i went to a small pond today and caught 10 2hand+ cats...

i figured since this was a bassfishing forum its best to go to this section to post..
now..

who knows which fins are the hurting ones.. how do you grab a catfish and i heard once that the pokey fins are poisonous..

i just grabed them by the dorsal fin and threw them back with pliers..

The dorsal fin (top) and pectoral fins (sides) have sharp ends with a mild poison. Avoid grabbing right on top of these and you'll be fine. For a small cat, grab its whole head in front of the fins. They lay back if you push them front-to-back, so you can't get stuck that way. If it's big enough, lip it like you would a bass.
The important thing to remember is this: Fillet them, fry them with a batch of hushpuppies, add some coleslaw on the side, and a taaallllll glass of sweet tea.
