I watched a lot of the classic and wish they would have focused more on the fishing....E21 must have forked out some bucks, because I saw a lot of carrot stix and the bobby knight thing was ridiculous...and what was up with the same commercials over & over & over..how annoying..I don't need to see another GMAN's garage commercial for as long as I live! On the brightside you really got to give it up for Toyota..they are really putting some serious cash out there for next year's top anglers.

Good observations. I don't care much for the bad mannered Knight anyway. They didn't make any points with me having him on the show. Agree again that the Swindle commercial was Annoying with a capital "A". They need some help with the commercials.

How can you not care for one of the greatest college basketball coach in history, thats absurd, you must not watch college basketball, b/c when you can leave a Big Ten school such as Indiana, and go to a team that struggled in previous years in Texas Tech and turn them into a Big Twelve threat that can compete with Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M on who they whipped all upon not too long ago, but bad mannered or not, he knows basketball and its his way or the highway, yeah maybe he screams and yells a lot but i would ratehr have a coach such a knight rather than one that doesnt yell b/c he gets the point acrossed, hes an outdoorsman that hunts and fishes any chance he gets, and when he gave Swindle, Duckett and Horton a "Pre Game Talk" it made me want to go fish, but maybe thats just me being from Indiana and a big Bob Knight supporter......

There are lots of great b'ball coaches that have won more games and championships that don't throw chairs across the court into cheerleaders or head but players or slap players or curse on TV to the point that there are more "bleeps" on the highlight show than words spoken than that a$$ hole. Do YOU think he's a good role model??? Do YOU think he's a good representative for the University?? I don't. Would you want your child to act like that??? I would not. I'd be ashamed.

Only one I can think of is Pat Summit. I am in no way an Indiana fan but it wouldn't bother me if my son played for Knight. They don't call him the General for nothing. And it don't hurt that we KENTUCKY pretty much owned IU when he was there.

Oh my word, you cannot be serious. Just off the top of my head, ever hear of John Wooden?????? 10, count em', 10 NCAA Championships. 7 in 7 straight years. Most appearances at Final 4---16. 8 perfect Pac 8 Conf. seasons.
The brat, ill-mannered Knight couldn't carry HIS clip board and he was and is a true Gentleman.

I would be honored to have my kid play for bob knight, do me a favor, look up the graduation rate for bball players at iu while knight was there, ill save you the time its 99.9%, the most famous words that, that man has ever said, is that "WHEN I DIE, I WANT TO BE BURIED UPSIDE DOWN, SO MY CRITICS CAN KISS MY A$$", another question, who coached the last undefeated team in division I bball, try the 1978 Indiana Hoosiers coached by Mr. Bob Knight, when you coach for 46 years or so, win 900 plus games, he must know a thing or two about bball, and im sure theres a ton of ppl including myself that idolize bob knight and look at him as a role model and thanks BARKELYPUP, I was thinking the same thing, but oh well, love him or hate him, he's one of the best all time!!!!

Bobby Knight is a basketball coach, not a saint. You wanna win games, you want your players to have discipline, you want them to graduate, you want them to be better people for having been in the program - then you want coach Knight.

Its a million times better having a vitriolic head coach over a bunch of well mannered, smart, talented kids..than the normal college basketball program, where you have a well mannered, smart, polished and proper coach over a bunch of thugs.

Coaches arent there to be therapist, they arent there to be nice guys. They need to win and they need to be a good influence on their kids. Coach Knight was both in spades.

Totally meaningless. Remember the b'ball players from Stanford in the 70's who graduated and couldn't read or write that sued the University??? Case in point. When I was in college, I had a tight end in my philosophy class that went on to make all pro that rarely if ever came to class and when he did at 9am, slept through the entire class that made an A. It was a joke. If you're a great athlete in the right college, you'll graduate. Not a problem. I have first hand experience.

Look, I've seen players who werent good students make it through too. That happens at every school. And still, still Bob Knight has an incredible track record with kids graduating. Articulate kids too.

He is like a military leader. Those guys arent always polished and sweet either, but they serve their purpose. I'm serious jig, what on earth do you want of the guy? For him to cater to your own feelings. Give me a ****ing break, that **** **** bob knight **** win games **** discipline **** better person despite bad language **** **** **** the world is a tough place **** gotta be able to take it **** **** **** ****.

Knight's a jerk. Take a look at my post about John Wooden the greatest college b'ball coach ever. It's not even debateable that he's the greatest. Google Wooden and see what I'm talking about. The man was a gentleman AND the greatest. You can be both. That's what you need to teach your kids. Not that you have to be a jerk and an a$$ hole like Knight to win. Knight was successful, I won't argue that, but he is crude, vulgar and disgraceful. He's not a role model that I would want my kids to emulate.

We arent arguing on who the greatest was. I could be Wooden, or Rupp, or Dean Smith....

We are arguing about whether Bob Knight is a good man or not, whether he has made a positive influence on society, his players, the institutions he represents....

He has. I don't care about the chair incident. That aint important. You are overvaluing a whole bunch of unimportant stuff. He gets excited during games. Most people do.

When I played sports, I was always getting in arguments, I used extremly profane language, I often got personal fouls or roughing penalties, people got upset because I went all out - and yet, and yet I don't know of anyone who can say that I am a bad person, that I have a bad influence on society, or those around me. I know people who say "Bills a passionate guy", but I don't cheat on girls, I don't assault people, I don't lie, cheat or steal, I am not a bad person and neither is Knight. The people who do those things are bad people. We should be talkin about them. For all the effort you have exerted in the post in denigrating Kinights character, you could have spent it on people, athletes even coaches who have shown much less character.

Character is the most important thing in the world. I think Bobby Knight is as big a proponent of that as anyone. But he isn't hyping the false character that the media so loves.

And for all the effort YOU have exerted in extolling Knights "character" YOU could have spent on coaches who have shown much MORE character such as the great John Wooden or Tom Landry, to name a few.

Its different in my case Jig, I am defending someone who you are degrading. Coach K doesn't need defending, nor Wooden because you havent bothered to degrade them, but Coach Knight has a lot of character, and he does deserve to be defended.
