Default Lake Travis, Austin, Tx 3/9

Woke up EXTRA early today for some reason, 4:30am (after daylight savings time), and couldn't get back to sleep. I planned on hitting Travis today anyway so I got a early start. Launched at Cypress Creek at around 5:45, or so. Had one person who beat me to the ramp, a guy in a very nice lookin' blue Cobra. He was still out when I got back to the ramp this afternoon, hope he had a good day out there.
I started the day at the point across from the island in the middle of the lake. Worked that point with shakey heads, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, and a crankbait and had one fish to show for it, a nice chunk probably about 2# on a shakeyhead with a Baby Rattlesnake. Once the sun came up and things began to warm up I headed to Sandy Creek and fished from the marina all the way around to the park, picked up 3 in this strech all keepers and one being about 5-6#'s. I put her in the livewell to see if I could find someone with a camera, but had no luck, so I cut her loose to enjoy the day...... I moved across from the park and worked the shoreline all the way out of the "no wake" zone and picked up 3 more. By the time I got past the "no wake" bouys the wind had picked up so I headed back to Cypress Creek. On the way back i saw quite a few boats fishing, Im anxious to see how everyone else did.
While I was in Sandy Creek I spoke with a guy who was bank fishing and told me the weekend before he had caught 5 NICE bass off the point he was on that would have gone about 17#, pretty impressive. All in all the fishing was pretty good, Id say my best 5 would have gone 13+#'s. All fish were caught on a shakeyhead rig with Baby Rattlesnakes in 6-10' of water.

Sounds like a good day!

Can you post a pic of that Baby Rattlesnake, please?

Not bad for a sip

Seriously, that is a good fish for Travis. I've never done better than a 3 or so in that lake.
