Well, after some 'good debating skills', we have deicded on the Eagle Cuda 168 for our TM-mounted depthfinder. It may not be the fanciest, but for now, it will really help, especially since it is on the TM.
Any mounting tips? Can I run this and my Eagle Fish Mark 480 off the same 12-V battery? Anything esle I should know before I buy tomorrow? -Lunk- ![]()

both can run off a battery, make sure you ground it good n make sure you have some inline fuses or hooked up to the fusebox, then learn to read it~

Oh, yeah, I forgot to add, we will also be running our bow/stern marker lights off the same battery. Will three different itmes be a problem? They all have a fuse, so that is not a problem.
How should I run the wire for the transducer down the TM shaft? Where exactly should I place the transducer? -Lunk- ![]()

get some wire ties and run the wire from the trans. to along the shaft of the trolling motor. I used to just wiretie the transducer to the botton the the trolling motor.

Is this a deep-cycle or a regular old lawnmower battery, 12V?

Oh... Ours is just a Huskee Lawn&Garden 12V. Will this be alright? How should we tie all three items in?

Lunk, it should be OK. The only thing I use my deep cycle batteries for is the trolling motor. Everything else runs off the cranking battery.

Lunk, the only problem you could have is the battery going dead. You can try and run 50 things off a single battery. They just might not all work is all. You will find out when you need another one, but you are a good ways off right now. TM and starters for the engine are the 2 high drain items fishermen take, everything else is pretty light on the juice.

I'm hoping it will all run off just one. Most of you have seen what I've did to our boat this Winter, so it is already heavy as is, especially with only a 5.5 HP pushin' it.
I'll let ya know how it goes after our first trip. Hopefully soon! -Lunk- ![]()

Lunk, I ask for more help when it comes to boats than maybe anyone here.
There is a value in doing something yourself. How do you want to mount it? What way would be most beneficial to your style of fishing? Zooker runs a TM transducer mount and has posted a pic so take it in to consideration what he has done, as he is very wise, but its just an idea - giving you step by step directions takes away from the fun and intellectual challenge/benefits of doing it yourself.

Well, I'm mainly going to use it to locate areas where bass would hold - not specifically fish.
We didn't get a mounting bracket, but we still can if need be. I'm mainly looking for a way to slap it on there and read depth directly below my trolling motor. -Lunk- ![]()

I don't run one, but I can imagine I probably would look to use band clamps in some way. Band clamps are like duct tape to me, so useful.
