hey everyone, i am trying to get down the shaky head but i have a question about it, like when im fishing with one i use a 6'6" foot, light action quantum controller, with 8 pounds test, is that a good set up. and when im shaking the worm do i do it on slack line a tight line? because when i shake the worm on tight line it feels like im moving the lure to much. any help with be really appreciated.

To 'shake' a shakey head the correct way, I believe you must 'tight-line' it, much as you would impart action to a drop-shot bait. After your bait has made contact with the bottom, tighten-up your line, and give about 3-4" of slack so you have a slight 'belly' in your line. You then shake this small 'belly', imparting enough action to the lure without pulling the bait to far, although sometimes pulling is the key.
Your rod set-up sounds superb, by the way. -Buzz ![]() |
