Well, I ordered my boat. As I mentioned in other posts, I am getting an 18' G3 1860 CCJ. It is a river jet with a tunnel hull. The boat is rated for 90 hp and comes with a 90/65. However, I am upgrading to a 115/80. The boat dealer recommended that I get a stainless steel impeller. Anyone have any information on this thing? Is it really going to improve the performance?

yep actually the same reason we switch from aluminum props to ss on out boards. no flex better performance.. though there is no way to have a impeller "worked" to get better hole shot.. ya have to change the impeller it self..

As zook said stainless is always an improvement over aluminum and as well will actually save the lower unit over time. A stainless impellar is more balanced and less likely to get out of balance than an aluminum will do to the fact that a aluminum impellar will cjip more easily and thus will get out of balance. A unbalanced impellar or prop puts undue stree on bearings and there carriers.

Hey bama we are talking bout to diffent impellars bud. He is talking bout the impellar on his jet drive unit. If your interested in getting some prop work done gimme a holler. I have a connection in Missouri to a man that I have and will continue to deal with. He is an artist whenit comes to props. Lemme know.
