Well I gave my presentation this past saturday to about 15 boy scouts ages from 8-12 that were sorta a hand full. They were full of energy, but they were a great group and they were really excited and interested in the fish! It was good that I had a hand full of fish they have never seen before like, short nose gar, quilback carp sucker, bigmouth buffalo, whiper, green sunfish and a spotted bass, it really kept their attention. But their favorite was definetly the flat head I had which was only about 6 pounds but to them they thought it was huge! I got the kids involved by asking them what species of fish it was, and why or what key features gave it away. They like that but there was some chaos with 15 kids yelling 20 different answers at once. I had to calm them down a couple of times but they are kids. After the fish I.D. and fish conservation, we did group fishing down by the lake. The weather and water conditions weren't the greatest but they did manage to catch some bluegill and green sunfish.
For my first presentation I thought it went alot better than what I had expected. The live fish was a real hit with the kids! I'm looking forward to doing another fish and fishing presentation in the future! Good fishin |
