For those of you who don't know, my wife has had a really bad back for as long as I've known her. Over the last year she has had an operation to fuse two vertabra in her neck. Then a few months ago, she had a knee replaced.
Before this last operation she could bairly walk. She hobbled with a cane, and had trouble walking 100 ft without resting. She would fall a lot, and each fall meant either a trip to the Emergency Room, or at least, that she would be layed up in bed for a couple of days hurting so badly she could hardly get up to to the bathroom. The bad knee was on the opposite side from her bad back. That put more pressure on the bad side of her back. She is on total disability needless to say. She was able to fish with me, but a lot of time I'd have to lift her from the boat and almost carry her to car. She had the knee replaced three weeks before Thanksgiving. A couple of days after Thanksgiving we had an opportunity to fish with a friend from his new Ranger 520. To make this long story shorter, she had to go up on the bank to do little girl business. In the process of jumping from the boat, she fell. For the first time since I've known her, she laughed and got back up, brushed herself off. At the end of a long, cold, and damp day, she was still acting like a teen ager. Then a couple days before Christmas, We were at the mall, and I realized that she was walking faster than I was. She had stopped carrying her cane, and at first I didn't think much of it when I told her "slow down". Then the irony of what I'd said hit me. Normally She's hobbling along, or riding in one of those little electric scooters. I stopped dead in my track, with tears running down my face. I know, there are people on this board who don't appreciate me "preaching", and I try to respect that, but friends, I have seen God's healing hands on her. I know there were two good doctors that he used as his instruments, but I know where the real healing power comes from. That was my Christmas present. To see my wife walk without pain. Oh. I got a bag of senko's too. ![]() |

Cajun, that is the best kind of present to get. Â*We both know where that healing came from.
San Antonio missed the first ever white Christmas by 40 lousy miles. Â*So close but yet so far. Â*Would have been wonderful if we had one but it just wasn't in the cards. Â*Even so I had a good Christmas and hope y'all did to. |

Not much in fishing gear....but it was a profitable Christmas...
![]() ![]() I did get a indiana jones type hat that I will wear flyfishing and I got a mounted 14 inch brown trout (I can tell everyone that I caught it - well I have caught trout that size before). Lets see, I also got a 1,000,000 candlepower light and a healthy chunk of cash that will go a long way towards a spring break excursion in florida.... Most importantly I just enjoyed this Christmas much more, I guess as I get older I get away from caring so much about recieving presents and I become more interested in seeing family... Cajun, I can't tell you how happy I am for you and your wife. |

I got to see family open presents, and that was more than enough for me. I don't really want presents anymore, just tell them to spend it on themselves or the kids. I did tell my wife what she got me for Christmas, and that was a few Lures from CC, if he ever gets them made that is
![]() Cajun, That would be about the best Christmas present ever, I'm so happy for you and your wife. That is a miracle, to go from constant pain to relief, and I know from experience, Hope the blessings continue. Lizards |

All that I wanted was gift cards for BPS. No didn't get any.
However, did get some great items like books, clothes, and things that I "do like" but then came the real good stuff. Alot of skins, mulla, greenbacks, or in other words bucks. Went to BPS yest (Sun) and spent appx. 275.00. No rods, no reels, just baits. But not to fear, I got the good baits. I.E. Lucky craft, W.E.C., Bagleys and of course I did manage to buy some of them "cheapo's" Bomber, Norman. The baits Â* Â*that actually have proven themselfs. Not to mention , I did get some of those finger nail clippers also. |

CAjun congrats!
my best present is along the lines of yours well i dont know if i've said it or not on the board but my wife is finally pregnant after nearly 4 years of trying! on dec. 22 we got a call from the obgyn's office saying that my wife tested positive as a high risk factor to have a down syndrome child. of course my wife took the news horribly. to let you know a normal 26 year old white healthy woman has a 1 in 980 chance to have a down syndrom child my wife came back at 1 in 20 chance. after talking with her and calming her down the obgyn's office called back to schedule a high detail ultra sound and a meeting with a gyneticist. well after the ultra sound it appears the child is not going to be at risk for down(you can not be 100% sure with out dna, blood test, etc.) and it's gonna be a little girl!!! other than that i got some cool stuff, a banjo guitar(looks like and sounds like a banjo plays like a guitar) a 6'6" MH one piece rod, tons of lures and baits rapala scale and fishing tool/pliers a lionel trolley with bumpers for my christmas village and train set a mean joe greene jersey! |
