Trailering a Boat by Myself

Hi,
I'm new at trailering my boat by myself. I was wondering if there were any tricks for when once the boat is in the water and I have to go and park the truck. The boat ramp that I'm going to tomorrow does not have anything to tie up to. Thanks.

I think you are going to find that every boat and launch is different. With aluminum boats and soft slopes into the water I will definitly just beach the boat, you know just lightly ground the bow up on the bank then take a rope and tie to a root, a sapling or if I have to throw my anchor up on shore and let that hold the boat. Sometimes it can get ugly if you have no dock and a rocky shore, in which case you kinda pick the "best" area to pull up to.

Another old trick is set the trolling motor over if ya have a bow mounted troller. If its all rock use your best judement so as to NOT knock a hole in your baby.

Here is an idea. If your using an aluminum boat and you have a sandy shore to beach it on, toss an anchor into the water from the rear of the boat to keep the motor from swinging around and getting wedged in the botom of the lake.

That works real well. Another suggestion when launching-don't disconnect the winch until you are getting on the boat to back it off the trailer. Otherwise it may go floating off across the lake.
