when fishing cranks i genraly know the rule of the thumb about what colors are best for murky clear or stained water. I was just wondering if certain colors work better at certain times of the year, like summer spring and fall. i would appreciate any help thanks

I think colors are over rated. But flash is not..
A good example is two Raplala Floating minnows exact same color. One has a nice shiney finish and the other is dull. When you jerk the bait it reflects light and flashes to attract fish. Plus makes sound as hooks hit body. But the new shiney one always catches more fish. There is one exception to this thought.. in heavy pressured waters a muted bait is sometimes a better choice since mother nature does not tin foil fish.. Always frigin exceptions... Capt Mike

For the most part you want to match the hatch, as in using the colors of the primary forage in the body of water you are fishing. The one glaring exception is in the spring-here in Texas anyway. In the spring red craw is the hot ticket, but the rest of the year it does not produce very well.

ccs, We've done well this year (and last) on the bluegill colored bandits.
Other than that, I've been doing pretty good on plain white or tennessee shad colors. BB
