I know for many it's topwater, but be more specific. Personally, I haven't found anything better than when your deep crankin and a buttery glass rod just loads up and you keep reeling that pig in. It's like you feel the head shakin and it's just steadily pulling away, you know?
So what is yours? Just curious. |

since i mostly fish from the bank one of my favorite strikes has become the one that happens two or three feet from the bank right before i'm about to bring the lure out and cast again

when your casting something thats un-productive and you cast one good time and see a fish jump.. reel that lure in as fast as you can and you get an out of nowere strike
![]() or allout plastic worm strike when the worms on the down swim. but number 1 is a popper strike when you cast 10 minutes..not a sign of fish.. then just one time you hear that familar bloop.. bloop SPLASH! ![]()

Ditto JB. A close second is the rare hard hit while fishing a c-rig deep...even a dink feels like a sow at 20'.

I love a popper bite, or a spook bite especially when it is dead calm in the mornings...

rrw... thats the exact thing i was talking about..it freeks you out a little when you get the hit and your heart starts racing as you set and reel but most topwater strikes arent dont need to be set they hit it so hard but rather be safe than sorry..

Any topwater strike, be it plug, toad, frawg, buZZZZZZZZZZbait, etc.
Close second, shallow (therefore visible) spinnerbait assault. Third: The classic "double tap" on a worm pick-up. Fourth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUq2n...eature=related Talk about gettin' DQ'd from the tournament...WOW! ![]() L6 |

DITTO!!!!!! But I must admit that ANY hit is fantastic. Think about it this way.............we are trying to fool mother nature with a hunk of plastic, rubber or some type of metal and when we do that is just awesome.

While not intentional and usually not repeatable, the most heart-pounding strike has been when I'm reeling in a small bluegill and a whopper bass, pickeral, or some other predetaor fish slams it as I get it near the boat.

I like the ones where I have a weightless t-rigged lizard and I pause for about 30 seconds to a minute to answer the phone. When I hang up the phone and start to reel the line back in, there is a fish on the end.
My other favorite is when the fish hits the lure a split second after it hits the water. That means that I was correct in thinking there was a fish at the spot I was casting to. |

A jig or a T-rigged plastic bite. There's nothing more exciting than to get a "thump" on a jig or see the line move off and I mean nothing, including a top water bite.

I also like the bites that you have to "feel". When I fish my retention pond at night, I have to feel the bite when I reel it in slow because I cannot see the line move.

For me it's when I'm pulling a toad past some pads and a bass that was sitting underneath a pad makes a V and slams the toad. Even the dinks make my heart pound when they attack the bait.

When they come up out of the water to get the bait. I've had one jump a stump to get the bait, one launch itself out of the water to get the bait as I lifted it out of the water, and yesterday we had one jump out of the water and caught the toad on it's way back into the water.

Any type is fine with me, but I love it when they try to tear the rod out of your hand.

a topwater bite is the most exciting bite for me by far. but my favorite is on a jig. i really like the ones that tap it really hard 3 or 4 times and start swimming sideways with the bait. but my favorite would be the ones that you don't really feel, all you notice is your jig feels a little heavier or lighter than normal. around here these are usually your better fish, but you better know your tackle really well or you will never even know you got bit.

My favorite is when I feel a tap or see my line start to move, set the hook real hard and the rod stops half through the hook set. Then the fight starts.
