Rubik's Cube
Who here is able at the Rubik's cube (3x3x3), the Rubik's Revenge (4x4x4), and the Rubik's Professor (5x5x5)?
I have figured out a way that will work on any cube, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, etc. It is a combination of the "cage" method and common sense. It is by no means the fastest but you can solve any cube once you figure out a few steps. I have yet to load a "how to" video onto Youtube but I am thinking about it. |

My 'record' on the 3x3 was around 42 seconds....I remember the kid on That's Incredible (telling my age now) doing it in 14 seconds. |

Haven't messed with one since the 80's. Finally figured out how to take it apart and put it back together with all sides matching. Which worked better for multible times than peeling the stickers off and glueing them back in order. They always told me to think outside the box.

My best on a 3x3 is 63 seconds. I can consistently do the 4x4 under 5 minutes and the 5x5 consistently under 12 minutes. I do them at work when I need a break from work. Believe it or not solving them is a stress reliever. |

A couple students had one out in the hall last year. They asked me if I could solve one side so I did and they stood in amazement as I did it. So I solved two sides and left them standing there. I've forgotten the combination I learn all those years ago for the 3x3. Yep, learned to take it apart and grease the insides but never went back together right ever again. I think we, someone in my family, still has an original somewhere.

The only thing I ever considered them good for was target practice. You know you got good with the BB gun when you could call which square you were going to hit.

I have them at work and love the look on my coworkers' faces when I solve them in front of them. Some of the times I will go slow acting like I am confused and don't know how to solve the rest of it. I impressed my boss the other day with a 5x5x5 solve. |

Those things should be illegal. My technique to solving them is to smash them with a hammer and say, "Ha! Solve that!"
