Default This morning's catch with a pic of me

I normally don't take pics and post them of the little pounders I catch when I run out the retention pond in the mornings before work or the evenings after work but I wanted to post this morning's catch because I was able to get myself in the shot. Caught 2 this morning and missed 2.

The brush along the bank in the back of the picture is where I can't get to unless I get in my boat (not done yet). I can walk to the other side but it is too over grown with grass, trees, and such to be able to safely fish (mocassins and I found out yesterday rattlesnakes - fun).

The area that is shallow enough to wade in is very soft and mushy. Do you know of anyone that has one leg and needs a size 14 tennis shoe (right foot)? My neighbor tells me it slowly slopes down to around 3 to 4' deep about 5 to 10' out from the the bank and then it drops off rather quickly to a depth of about 10 to 15'. There are several areas that are 25' deep. These were spots that the contractor did not encounter shallow rock when digging the retention pond. My neighbor is working on getting an as-built topo of the retention pond from the contractor (Saiia). That would be nice to have.

Putting the boat in is not that big of a hassle since I could actually walk it there from the house using the transport wheel. It is only 3/4 of a mile. I have just yet to do it. Maybe this coming weekend.

this will sound dumb, but I cut two 18 sq inch pieces of 1/2 inch ply wood. I then traced out my boots on them and drilled four holes. two at the front and two at the end of the arch. I tie these onto my shoes. I can use these to both push down the tullies and then walk into the soft bottom. Of course, one set won't last the summer, but since I had some scrap wood sitting around, a few beers, and power tools, I decide to mess with it.
I will warn you, that if you mistep, you will either look like an idiot trying to kepp your balance or look like an idiot when falling.
