got out for a bit
Well much to the protest of my wife, who is telling me i fish to much I got out for about two hours today . It was late morning/early afternoon so I wasn't expecting much, But ended up with 4 fish for the two hours that were all under two pounds . Only took a picture of one of them cause he was the largest of the bunch and also took a picture of the snake that was sharing his spot with me . Also it was the first time I used Fluorocarbon line which I have no complaints about, I spooled it on my spinning reel and it preformed well .

It is hard to tell what kind of snake that is. It looks like a moccasin but it could be just a harmless dark banded water snake. Not sure.
Nice catch. |

We have copperheads in ct but I don't believe we have water moccasins , he kinda just hung out a few feet away from me for a while and then moved on when I didn't show any interest in him .
Just Googled it to be sure but the only poisonous snakes we have up here are copperheads and timber rattlesnakes .

Wow. That is a dark copperhead. The ones in my neck of the woods are actually more "copper" in color. I have seen some dark ones but never that dark. We can usually see the design on the back. I personally would have killed it once I knew it was poisonous. One heavy rock to the head would have done the trick.

Sorry for the misunderstanding I pretty sure it's just a water snake other wise I would not have stayed so close to him . And I'm pretty sure that copperheads don't get that dark . I'll look it up cause I could be wrong . Okay found one Guess i was wrong . http://images-partners-tbn.google.co...uthGaping1.jpg

Well, you could have chopped off its head and then looked for fangs. The last moccasin I killed, I used a stick to open its mouth and pull on its fangs to show my wife and the neighbor. I got the heebee jeebies just thinking about those fangs going into my leg.

jim, if it has a head the looks like an arrowhead (pionted) and cat eyes(slits)....cottonmouth pal. and THAT looks like one from the pic. musta been cool there or he would be moving around more. all poisious snakes have arrow type heads here. and eyes that are like a cats. very dangerous. i'd have beat his head in, lol. hate cottonmouths.

It was only about 70 degrees when I was out and the snake was basking . I came walking around the corner put my stuff down looked over and there he was so I snapped a picture and went bout my fishing . As long as they leave me be I'll leave them be they can bite you as easily as you can kill them but 9 out of 10 times they will sit there and move on when you pose no threat to them .
