I fished a tournament each of the last 2 weekends. This past weekend we stayed in the James. Caught most of our fish on Green Pumpkin/Blue Flake Babybrushhogs. I've been using a red bullet weight lately and that seemed to be the only way to get a bite. My brother was in the front of the boat flipping the same bait without a red weight and couldn't get bit. Strange! We still only had 5 that went 7.44 lbs.
The weekend before my dad and I fished and stayed in the Chick. Caught 2 early on a Spro Frog. Caught 2 on the brushhog and one on a spinnerbait. All small. 5 fish went 6.50. We just can't get a decent fish to bite to save our life. Talking to several other guys it's been slow in general. You just have to get lucky and get 1 or 2 big bites then grind it out. I'm ready for Fall (to deer hunt! LOL) and hopefully some better fishing on the rivers!!!

While we are on the James River topic. Have ya'll ever fished for Shad down there? I go every year when the Dogwoods are blooming and fish the fall line. Last year my Brother and I boated 150 Shad in 3 hours now thats fun. If your ever down there look for the 1968 Orian with the 85 Johnson thats me.
